Subject: [totaltapple] free credit report

Today I had to occasion to speak with an advisor regarding one of my
credit cards. We discussed my obtaining a credit report and he
mentioned the ONE site that provides an actual free report without
joining or buying anything. Law requires now that we can obtain one
credit report per year from each of the three companies that provide
them.

Here's the link to the information at the Federal Trade Commission's
website. I ordered mine over the phone.

Below seemed like an easy way to remove a tick, but I'm now a disbeliever after trying it on one attached to my cat.

I must admit, I used some watered down liquid soap for the first minute or two, because I had a bottle that was so low, I'd put some water in it to make the most of the left over soap, but after that didn't work at all, I then went full strength liquid soap, and the tick didn't budge for several minutes. I pulled out the old stand by BLUE STAR OINTMENT, which I think should be in everone's medicine cabinet, and after about a minute of swabbing a little glob of the BLUE STAR stuff on with a q-tip the fat tick let go of my cat, and I flushed it down the toilet. Blue Star Ointment is potent stuff, for such and also can be used for small cuts. Make sure not to get it near your eyes though, as I think it could be very uncomfortable there.

...Subject: Good way to remove ticks

Ever heard of this? Tried it?

----- Tick Removal

Spring is here and the ticks will soon be showing their heads. Here is
a good way to get them off you, your children, or your pets. Give it a
try.

Please forward to anyone with children.... or hunters or dogs, or
anyone who even steps outside in summer!!

A School Nurse has written the info below -- good enough to share -- And it really works!!

I had a pediatrician tell me what she believes is the best way to
remove a tick. This is great, because it works in those places where
it's some times difficult to get to with tweezers: between toes, in the
middle of a head full of dark hair, etc.

Apply a glob of liquid soap to a cotton ball. Cover the tick with the
soap-soaked cotton ball and swab it for a few seconds (15-20), the tick
will come out on its own and be stuck to the cotton ball when you lift
it away. This technique has worked every time I've used it (and that
was frequently), and it's much less traumatic for the patient and
easier for me.

Unless someone is allergic to soap, I can't see that this would be
damaging in any way. I even had my doctor's wife call me for advice
because she had one stuck to her back and she couldn't reach it with
tweezers. She used this method and immediately called me back to say,
'It worked!'

Please pass on. Everyone needs this helpful hint.

Special Thanks to Rosalyn F. Kilcollins for this tip!
