Personally, I (formerly known as Lisa Price aka Kitty
Price) had a somewhat unusual experience, I was in the ninth grade
about 1964/1965, and it
was my first time boarding away from home... The Housemother selected
me to be placed in an
"experimental compound" room as I recall them naming it, and there I
had 5 roommates, Marta, Shirley Smith, Heidi
(Glasson?), Sam, and Diana. My memories are fading here, sorry friends,
if I can't remember your last names today, maybe it will come back to
me tomorrow... We had a little study room in the front and our sets of
bunk
beds, and two showers and lavatories with a storage shelf above the
johns. I'll never forget hiding out in that storage place there the
night of my first mandatory attendance dance. I had a lovely silver
dress and an ostrich feather wrap, and pretty silver shoes but was too
afraid to go, til it was almost over, when I got the
nerve and came down from the storage shelf, and went. I hope to add
more of my experiences as time goes on, and its always inspirational to
me, when I hear from others about their Howey Academy memories. Please
write if you knew me then, or if you'd like to express any memories
here on my personal website I created for us...
